From now to the end of 2022, especially on the occasion of the 2023 Lunar New Year, the General Department of Customs requests provincial Customs Departments to enhance the control of fraud and counterfeiting of goods origin, labeling with regard to imports, exports and strictly handle cases of violations.

In which, with regard to exported goods, it is required to pay attention to the control of these goods items: wooden furniture, plastic products, rubber tyres, knives, scissors, tableware, and motocross motorcycles exported to USA and European countries, etc. With regard to imported goods, it is required to focus on inspection of foods, spirits, beer, miscellaneous goods, electrical and electronic household articles, cosmetics, clothes, and pharmaceutical products imported from primary markets for consumption in Vietnam.

The inspection of origin, labeling of exported goods produced in Vietnam shall base on free trade agreements, Decree No. 31/2018/ND-CP and Circular No. 05/2018/TT-BCT. With regard to goods produced in Vietnam but the origin of a country other than the origin of Vietnam, information on contracts on processing or production of goods for export shall be inspected.

With regard to imported goods, the inspection of labeling and origin of goods shall comply with the guidelines in Section 1.1 of the Official Dispatch No. 5189/TCHQ-GSQLstatus2 dated August 13, 2019 and relevant documents. Especially, it is required to note that if imported goods do not bear labels or bear labels which are separated from the goods or their packages for the purposes of evasion of origin, customs authorities shall strictly handle according to Decree No. 128/2020/ND-CPstatus2 and Decree No. 126/2021/ND-CP.
